Kiva Lending Committee Update
Kiva: Loans That Change Lives

Last Wednesday the committee met at Gerry's house to pick some more recipients for micro loans.  About $560 had been repaid since the last time we met a few months ago.  If you haven't heard of Kiva before, you can click this link to read more.  Moving forward, at least once a month I will introduce you to one of the people that we have picked to receive a loan, what they used it for, etc.  But this time I thought I would get started by just telling you our stats for Kiva lending.

We have done: 87 loans, $2290 total and have supported 22 countries!

Its amazing to see what such a small amount of money can do.  Each loan that we do is just $25.  Sometimes we pick people because there is a matching grant for every dollar that we loan, sometimes we pick because the person is doing something that fits in with the pillars of Rotary (like water and sanitation) and sometimes we pick because the person's story speaks to us.

Rotary Foundation Announcement
TRF (Canada) has carefully considered our donors; numerous requests and is changing to an annual receipting process for contributions starting in calendar year 2024.  Donors will receive
an acknowledgement for every contribution at the time the gift is made. Additionally, in early 2025, one itemized receipt will be provided that includes all contributions made to TRFC in the
2024 calendar year. An annual receipt for gifts made in 2023 will not be provided, as receipts for those contributions will already have been processed. Read more here.
