208 seconds.  That's the length of time between Canada geese getting sucked into the engines of USA Airways Flight 1549 and Capt. Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger taking an Airbus A320-214 into a miraculous glide into the Hudson River in 2009 saving 155 souls.

Two seconds.  That's about the length of time I had to pick myself off the middle of an icy three lane roadway in Fort McMurray and jump onto a snowbank after being hit by a vehicle while on a January run in in 2005.

Obviously quick decisions are necessary during times like these and, thankfully, those times are far and few between.

Most often though, especially in Rotary, we have the luxury of time to contemplate various points of view and options when facing a major decision.  I hope everyone will take advantage of the time afforded to us when the Youth Service Committee soon leads us in a discussion to reapply or not, to take part in the Rotary Youth Exchange program in 2014-2015.  Let's listen to each other and respond to arguments with passion and respect, and together we will make the best decision for our Club and the youth in our community.

This is my opinion and if you'd like to tell me what you think, please do so here.
