Brad Mastaler and John Oldham, both members of the International Service Committee, updated our Club about the status of the medical equipment we have on hand at the December 5th AGM.  Thanks to Bill Steinburg, about three years ago, we had an opportunity to take a variety of pieces of medical equipment from the hospital in Devon that was going to be disposed, which we then put into storage thinking that we could give this equipment to a worthy group in a short time frame.  Well, that didn't quite work out.

We secured a grant from our District and RI to help pay the costs of shipping a mammography machine in a shipping container to a Rotary Club in Nigeria.  Well that Rotary District has fallen under suspension issued by RI, so we are not able to access those funds.  Meanwhile, the kind folks who have allowed us to store this equipment need their space and we need to bring this project to an end.

The Committee has decided is to hang on to a mammography machine until the end of December, 2014 (the club in Nigeria will be notified of this decision), and work with the Emmanuel Foundation (EF) in Sherwood Park to dispose of the remainer of the equipment to worthy groups.  Shoudl the RI suspension still be in effect at the end of 2014, we will then give the mammography machine to the good people of EF.  Stayed tuned for more details.
