Paw Sox Game Rotary Night August 19 for Polio Plus.  Come as a family! Will be a lot of fun.  $13 reserved box seats; $9 general admission.
 
Clambake August 9 at Judy Earle’s house.  $35 pp. BYOB. Please RSVP to email ASAP so we can get a head count.  Need committee members.
 
Disaster Preparedness Committee: July 28 at 5:30 PM at 350 Wellington Avenue in Cranston.  Will be trained by Red Cross.
 
Bob DeGregorio – Comedy Night Fundraiser for Rotary, overhead is minimal.  Bob recently co-hosted similar fundraiser for Nepal and raised $7,000.  Looking at October.  Adult comedy.
 
State Representative from Garden City area in Cranston.  Gave Ed McDonough a special citation from the RI General Assembly for his work in the cities of Cranston and Warwick.
 
 
HAPPY BUCKS was hosted by Joe McGair and collecting was Dan Scanlon, Sr.
 
Joe McGair – For the success of the Red Sox.  Is that a joke buck?
 
Tony Bucci – For the new District Governor.  Congratulations!  Met a Rotarian from Germany at meeting that was cancelled two weeks ago.
 
District Governor Christine David – Thanks for opportunity to install Ed at Charter Night.  At Chatham Rotary – met past Rotary International President – Charles Keller – delivered first polio drops at the very first immunization day.
 
Mark McHugh – Covered his sponsor’s (Armeny) repeated outbursts.
 
Armeny Apkarian – Covered her own repeated outbursts.
 
Dennis Sleister – New grandbaby on the way.
 
Larry Goldberg – After 10 weeks rehabbing, got to join his golf league.  Played poker in MA which qualified him for a Big tournament!
 
Richard Applebaum – Good to see old friends in Warwick Rotary.  Tony, Joe and Jim.  Will do the best job he can do for us.
 
Lara D’Antuono – David Ferris got his first hole-in-one!  Great job!  Lara answered security question – “where was your first honeymoon?”
 
Bobby DeGregorio – Great vacation week out West.  Saw Mount Rushmore.
 
David Ferris – For the hole-in-one.  Wish he was with his buddies John Smith and Scott Seaback when it happened.
 
John Smith – Dave – “you can buy me and Scott a drink anytime”.
 
Mike Holland – Daughter will be having a baby next year in early March.  Congratulations!

Engage new members immediately.  Get them involved in committees and projects.
 
Include family members in community projects.
 
47,000 new members last year.  Exceeded 1.2 million total Rotarians.  Growth is in the Asian countries.  Canada and US losing members.
 
Attracting and retaining members is a huge priority for District Governors and Club Presidents.
 
Only 3 countries where polio is not eradicated: Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan.  Twenty years ago, it was 125 countries.  $2 to $1 Match for Polio Plus is still in place with Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation.
 
Carole Ritarossi is a credit to our club with her involvement with RYLA.
 
Be flexible to attract new members.
 
Locally only 25 of over 700 new members stayed as members for over 3 years.
