Storytelling

This presentation is about stories - understanding them, working with them, enjoying them, learning from them, and changing our lives and our organizations by using them effectively.

We'll talk about storytelling, tell a few stories, and share ideas on why storytelling is probably the most important way that we communicate.

We tell stories to describe ourselves, not only so others can understand who we are but also so we can understand ourselves. We share our stories with others in part because it helps us to make sense of them. Until we share them they are not complete, just as paintings or photographs are not complete unless they are shared with an audience. Stories and storytelling are as old as the human race. Storytellers told the stories of their people, their history, and their art so that they would not be forgotten. We still do that.

Our need to tell and hear stories is probably secondary only to the needs for love, food, and shelter.

Jerome Martin is, among other things, a storyteller. He has given presentations and workshops to Rotarians and other groups, and he tells stories virtually every day.

Please join us on August 24th when our very own Jerome Martin will discuss "Storytelling" by clicking on the ZOOM link below.
