Jun. 23, 2016
It will be on June 23 at the Peaks Trail (Breck side), where Rotary will join Breckenridge Grand Vacations folks. By the way, I forgot to mention that BGV will host a BBQ after the project, where all who participated on the project day are welcome to join! To sign up for the Rotary Trail Project Day please go to the FDRD website (www.fdrd.org) and click on the Calendar button at the top of the Home Page. Scroll down to the calendar and click on the June 23 Peaks Trail Maintenance entry. This will take you to a description of the project. Click on the sign up button, enter your name and email address and hit sign up again and you’re all set! You will immediately receive an email with a confirmation and all the info needed for the project. Important Note - For all field projects, volunteers must complete the 2016 Liability Waiver. A submitted waiver is required for participation in the project. (Only one waiver needed for the 2016 season.). Click on the Fill Out Waiver Now button on the Calendar page to fill out and submit the waiver. The info you will receive via email is as follows: Work on the Peaks Trail is essential due to the high volume of traffic. We will employ some basic trail maintenance techniques to ensure that this gem of a trail can be used for years and decades to come.
Project Location: Colorado Mountain College: Breckenridge Campus. We will meet at the parking lot just south of the college. Breckenridge, CO
Directions: From I-70, take Exit 203 towards Frisco and Breckenridge. You'll pass through the town of Frisco and travel about 7 miles to Coyne Valley Road--take a right here. You'll travel about 1/4 mile to Denison Placer Rd--take a left here. Travel past the college and look for the FDRD sign in the parking lot.
Project Schedule: The day will commence with registration and check-in at 9:00am. Once complete, we will caravan to the worksite and hike in to the project location. We'll break for a light lunch around noon and wrap things up around 2pm. We will reconvene at the parking lot adjacent to Colorado Mountain College (Breck) and caravan to the Grand Timber Lodge to enjoy a prepared BBQ.
Special Notes: ITEMS TO BRING AND WEAR: Our mountain weather can change from warm and dry to cold and wet in a hurry. Please be prepared with the following: work or hiking boots (NO sandals, flip flops or minimalist shoes), long pants, long-sleeved shirts, warm layers, rain gear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, allergy medications, day pack, lunch and snacks. PLEASE bring enough drinking water (at least 2 liters per person). AGE REQUIREMENTS: Ages 6-15 need to be accompanied by an adult. Ages 16-18 must have parental consent via the FDRD waiver to attend. REMINDERS: Pets are not permitted. Drink plenty of fluids before, during and after the project. Smoking on any project is prohibited. Carpooling is highly encouraged. |
