Such was the case with the club outing at Lake Cypress Springs, hosted by President Kathy Higgins and husband, Randall. They opened their lake house to the club, along with their pontoon boat and two jet skis, all of which were put to good use. We ate barbecue and then "Captain Randall" took two groups on his SS Minnow for "a three-hour tour... a three-hour tour." Randall knows his way around, so we were never in danger of being stranded on Gilligan's Island. Pictured in this shot are "Ginger and Mary Ann" (aka Helen Blanchard and Julia Brooks) along with David Blanchard, as they approach the Higgins' boat house. For more shots of the event, click here.
Hundreds of children ages 7-11 are writing their own stories as part of a project run by the Rotary E-Club of the Caribbean. The best stories are published each year in "The Butterfly StoryBook." It's just one example of how Rotary members worldwide advance early childhood reading. Learn more about this project and others for International Literacy Day, 8 September.
