Jeff Smith was born and raised in Gainesville, Texas and attended Callisburg High School.  After graduation in 1990, he attended Baylor University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in December of 1995.  After leaving Baylor, Smith began his coaching career in Plano ISD in 1996.  Over the course of seven years in Plano, he coached at Robinson MS, Schimelpfenig MS, Vines HS and served on Gerald Brence’s staff at Plano Senior High.  After leaving Plano, other coaching stops included Lorena HS from 2003-2007, Lake Highlands from 2007-2009 where he was the Defensive Coordinator, and from 2010-2018, he served as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at McKinney High School.  In 2018, Smith made the transition into athletic administration and became the Assistant Athletic Director in Prosper ISD, where he remained until January of 2020.  During that time as an Assistant AD, Smith returned to school to complete his Masters in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M Commerce.  Finally, in February of 2020, Smith had the opportunity to come back home to Plano ISD where he assumed the role of Athletic Director.  Jeff Smith has been married to his wife Kelli for 26 years and they have two children:  Jake Smith, who attends the University of Texas at Dallas and Allie, who attends Collin College.
