Homelessness - an event that can last a lifetime for many people in our community - comes one night out of the year for some students at Duncanville High School.

Students, including members from our DHS Rotary Interact Club, set up a shelter camp using cardboard boxes and duct tape at the tennis courts of Duncanville High School.  Some of them showed creativity with their makeshift homes.  About sixty students participated in Homeless for a Night and weathered a misty night.

Even though they give up a Friday night each year to do this, Interact Sponsor Natalie Nickerson, says the students learn valuable lessons each time about working with limited resources, sharing, bonding, and heightening their sense of ethical and moral standards.

A salute to Natalie for her dedication and commitment to our Rotary Interact Club and the time she gives to developing their leadership skills.
