At the weekly meeting on April 6, 2018, President Elect Michelle Mullaly filled in for an ill President Amanda Tietze. Michelle welcomed the 54 members and 2 guests to the meeting. PE Michelle asked anyone celebrating an April birthday to please stand and be recognized.
 
Rotarian Rob Roland gave the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests: Jim Chaney (speaker); Paul Hervey (PP Dan Matthews).
 
The "Happy News" was provided by the following:
  • Tim Franta - in recognition of the awesome Canton Symphony Led Zeppelin concert on Thursday, April 5, 2018;
  •  
  • PP Craig Young - in thanks for being featured in the Canton Repository for being a candidate for Truck Dealer of the Year. Although Young Truck Sales did not win that award, he appreciates the article in the newspaper and the fact that Rotary was also featured in the article.
  •  
  • Bill Maddox - in celebration of the great Canton Symphony Led Zeppelin event on Thursday, April 5th. He also invited President Elect Michelle Mullaly to share details of the event;
  •  
  • PDG/PP Bob Pattison - in excitement for Spring weather coming and in recognition of the Rotarian of the Year nominations of Steve Fettman, PP Craig Young and PP Rick Taylor;
  •  
  • Dave Beule - in celebration of Canton Brewing Company not being in The Repository for the wrong reasons.
Suzette took the opportunity to inform the members she was once again going to run the Canton Marathon. She stated she would be collecting donations to benefit the Canton Rotary "Backpack" Program which will supply the Canton City School children with food over their summer break. (*See story above)
 
Health Screen & Wellness Fair Chairman Robert Matthews then reminded everyone about the upcoming event on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 7am - 11am at Mercy Hall Auditorium. He asked that everyone please take flyers home with them and provide to family and friends or hang them in their business, church or doctors office.
 
President Elect Michelle Mullaly announced the search for this year's "Rotarian of the Year" was underway. If you did not take the opportunity to fill out a ballot form, please see Lauri or Barb on your way out. You will also have an opportunity to vote next Friday as well. This year's nominees are Steve Fettman, PP Rick Taylor and PP Craig Young.
 
Drew Pelger, Co-Chair, then addressed the membership about this year's "Uneventful" Raffle. Tickets are on sale for $25.00. He asked that members consider taking tickets with them to sell to family, friends and co-workers. The drawings will take place each Friday during the regular Rotary meeting beginning April 27 - May 18.
 
April Program Chair Chris Burt welcomed and introduced his speaker Jim Chaney, Executive Race Director for the Pro Football HOF Marathon.
 
President Elect Michelle concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
  • next week's speaker will be Cheryl Watt, PGA Golf Professional from Skyland Pines Golf Club;
