At our weekly meeting on June 30, 2017, President Craig Young welcomed the 56 members and 19 guests to the meeting.
 
PP Rick Huetter gave the invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guests to the meeting: Matt, Victoria and Christian Tietze, Pat Tietze, Sheila Vess and Jerry Vess (guests of Amanda Tietze); Kim Young, Rita Burchett and Hannah Candea (guests of Craig Young); Annetta and Daniel Rojek (guests of Mark Rojek); Ryan, Nate and Mike Mullaly (guest of Michelle Mullaly); James T. Boggs, Penni Ewing and Barb Ewing-Cockroft (guests of Dave Ewing); Rich Dever (guest of Dan Matthews); Amanda and baby Lilianna Pierce (guests of Tony Pierce).
 
The "Happy Bucks" news was then provided by the following Rotarians:
  • $1:  Ryan Parkinson - in celebration of being at the meeting today (after a string of absences due to work);
  •  
  • $1:  PDG/PP Dave Ewing - in recognition of the Military Rehabilitation Center and for our Club's participation in this worthy effort;
  •  
  • $3:  Tim Franta - in thanks for our Club's "get better wishes" to him; in honor of his Uncle Tom Franta's 95th birthday (Tom is still painting); and in memory of his wife and what would have been their 27th wedding anniversary;
  •  
  • $1:  PP Dennis Fulmer - in celebration of his new grandson, Miles, and in thanks to all past and current Rotary Presidents and Officers;
  •  
  • $1:  Matt Tietze - in congratulations to wife, Amanda, as incoming Rotary President; and in appreciation for being able to attend the Rotary International Convention in Atlanta recently;
  •  
  • $1:  Joyce Triner & Meyer's Lake Ballroom Wait Staff - in thanks for the years lunches and smiles every Friday here in the Ballroom. The ladies expressed that we will be missed. (Secretary Suzette in turn thanked the Meyers Lake Ballroom and Mr. Mike's Catering Staff - we appreciate your service!)

  • $20:  President Craig Young - in celebration of a good Rotary year; in thanks for the opportunity to be serve as Club President; to celebrate this day with his family; and to be thankful for his new grandchildren this year;
  •  
  • $2:  Jerry and Sheila Vess - in celebration of their daughter, Amanda Tietze, and her accomplishments in life in general and in becoming 2017-2018 Canton Rotary Club President specifically.
The following announcements were made from the podium:
  • President Craig Young brought the members up-to-date on the Bylaw changes. He stated that the Bylaws were sent to each Rotarian by email and have been available on the tables during the past two weekly meetings, as well as on the Rotary Club of Canton's website.

  • President Craig then asked for a Motion to approve the updated Bylaws for the Rotary Club of Canton.
  •  
  • The Motion to approve the updated Bylaws was made by PP Dan Matthews and seconded by Rotarian Jim Blake to adopt the proposed changes. The membership voted unanimously to accept the updated Bylaws; 
  •  
  • Golf Committee Chairman Nick Perini then informed the members about the upcoming golf outing on August 18, 2017 at the Sanctuary Golf Course. He stated the sign-up flyers were available on each table or could be downloaded from our website;
  •  
  • Nick also informed the members about the ability to become a "Hole" sponsor for $75. You could notify either himself or the Rotary office of your intentions.
  •  
  • Nick stated he was accepting items for door prizes and awards for the golf outing. You may bring your donated gifts to a Rotary meeting or take to the Rotary office;
  •  
  • PP Virginia Neutzling then presented the Rotary International Avenues of Service Award to PDG/PP David Ewing (*Please see story above);
  •  
  • PDG/PP Dave Ewing presented Paul Harris Fellows to Rotarians Justin Candea and President Elect Michelle Mullaly (*Please see story above);
  •  
  • President Craig asked all Past Presidents and Past District Governors to stand and be recognized;
  •  
  • President Craig then informed the members of the "Year End Review" document on each table;
  •  
  • Secretary Suzette Matthews announced that a reception was to be held shortly after the meeting to congratulate President Craig for his service to our club.
President Craig then thanked his retiring Trustees for their years of service: Suzette Matthews, Ryan Parkinson, Nick Perini and Dean Wallace.
 
PP Rick Taylor was the installing officer for the incoming 2017-2018 Board of Directors and Trustees and installed new President Amanda Tietze, President Elect Michelle Mullaly, Vice President Mark Rojek, Treasurer Tom Clevenger, Secretary Suzette Matthews, Sergeant-at-arms Robert K. Matthews. New Trustees installed were Mark Clendenin and Jeff Scott. (*New Trustees not in attendance and who will be installed at a later date are Frank Fleischer, Bill Liber and Dave Truax).
 
Brief remarks were then given by outgoing President Craig Young.
 
New President Amanda Tietze then presented the Club's gift to Past President Craig Young and thanked him for his service to the Club.
 
The following Rotarians turned in a makeup during Friday's meeting: PP Curt Werren (2 -Canton South); Bill Maddox (North Canton); Tom Sinclair (North Canton); Lynn Hamilton (Plain).
