At our weekly meeting on June 9, 2017, President Craig Young welcomed the 60 members and 30 guests to the meeting. 
 
Rotarian Theresa Blocher gave the invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews then welcomed the following guests to the meeting:  Billy Liber (guest of Bill Liber); Janet Creighton (guest of speaker Attorney General Mike DeWine); Steve Tharp Jr., Scott Haws and David Held (guests of Mark Shaffer); Franklin Arner, Kathy Espenscheid, Mark Cush, Francis Maloney and Homer Richards (guests of President Craig Young); Rich Dever (guest of Bruce Hale); Richard Regula (Massillon Rotarian); Gary "Judge" Brown II (Tallmadge Rotarian); Dee Matthews (guest of Robert Matthews); Chuck Zuerner and Scott Binder (guests of PP Rick Taylor); Matthew Franta (guest of Tim Franta); Robert Wang (from Canton Repository); Abbey Crouse (guest of Richard Regula); Libby Blake (guest of Jim Blake); Erick Kieffer; Cadet Raychel Blocher and Tim Blocher (guests of Theresa Blocher); Alexander Zumbar (Stark County Treasurer); Matt Fettman (guest of Steve Fettman); Bill Smith (guest of Ernie Schott); James T. The "Happy Bucks" were then provided by the following Rotarian:
  • $1: Jim Molnar - in celebration of Lizzie Goodwin being in attendance. Also, in honor of the Austin Bailey Foundation and him having the opportunity to be a board member for this organization;
  •  
  • $2:  PP Dan Matthews - in celebration of Mike DeWine's visit to our club; Also, to recognize his wife, Suzette, for being 'the best Rotary warm up act' in the world;
  •  
  • $1:  Richard Regula - in recognition of his chiropractor and fellow Rotarian who was in attendance and has made him pain free;
  •  
  • $5:  PP Dan Fuline - in celebration of receiving the funding of the capital campaign for the Military Family Center - a collaboration of Pegasus, Walsh University and Rotary (see PDG Menna Patel's letter elsewhere in this newsletter);
  •  
  • $1:  PP Virginia Neutzling - in recognition of the great leadership of Michelle Mullaly for the "Backpack" program. Canton Rotarians filled and delivered 500 backpacks last week;
  •  
  • $1:  Bruce Schorsten - in recognition and thanks to all the guests in attendance today;
  •  
  • $1:  Bruce Hale - in recognition of the Military Family Center efforts and encouragement to Rotarians to sign up for the New Member Project to help support this worthy project;
  •  
  • $1:  Mark Clendenin - in recognition of our Italian Exchange Student (Sarah), who Mark and his wife spent time with in Italy last month;
  •  
  • $1:  Bill Maddox - to celebrate the fact that his grandson, Alex Maddox, was accepted by Southern Methodist University (SMU). Bill stated he will now be spending more time in Texas now;
  •  
  • $1:  Mark Shaffer - to recognize Leadership Stark County and his opportunity to join Canton Rotary because of being a Leadership Stark County grad; Mark also wanted to let the members know that Leadership Stark County is taking applications;
  •  
  • $1:  Janet Creighton - to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of guest speaker Mike DeWine and his wife, Fran......Congratulations!!
Monthly speaker chair, Vice President Michelle Mullaly, then introduced the speaker for the day, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.
 
President Craig let the members know next week's speaker will be Lisa Allen from Fed Ex Custom Critical.
