The Rotary office received a "Thank You" letter dated January 7, 2019, from Christen Sedmock, Principal from Allen Elementary Reading and Math Preparatory School. Principal Sedmock writes:

"Dear Canton Rotary ~ Words cannot express the gratitude for your generosity in sponsoring the “Stuff the School Bus” with non-perishable and canned food items event. I
was truly taken back to see an entire Allen classroom filled with food! Due to your generosity, we were able to support 150 families from Allen, Belden, and Gibbs School. This food helped feed families over the Winter Break. Families were extremely grateful, as we delivered the items or they came to pick them up.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Allen Community, we are located in the Southeast End of Canton. We currently have approximately 260 students, 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and a daily snack. Students that attend our after school program also receive dinner at school. Without your contributions, many of our children may have gone without food over the winter break.

In addition to the food sent home over break, we were able to replenish our daily snack supply as well as our Allen food pantry. Our food pantry allows us to send food home throughout the school year to families in need. We open our Food Pantry several times a month for families. Also, families know if they are in need of food they can get it at anytime. Our families depend on us on a regular basis since some do not have transportation and there are no grocery stores nearby.

I cannot thank you all enough for all of the racks of coats, hats, mittens, socks, underware, pants, shirts, shoes, etc.. Our students were so happy to receive new clothes. We were also able to stock our clinics as children come to school in need of these clothing items.

Words cannot express the gratitude for your on-going generosity in sponsoring the “Stuff the School Bus” event to assist our families for the second year. We are truly blessed to have a community partnership with the Canton Rotary. Thank you!!!     Sincerely, Mrs. Christen Sedmock, Principal"
