Join Steve on Friday to learn about America’s fastest growing sport. There are more than two million people playing Pickle-ball® in the US alone, and the game is exploding in popularity around the world.The spread of the sport is attributed to its popularity within community centers, PE classes, YMCA facilities and retirement communities. And that is certainly evident right here in Stark County with new courts popping up indoors and outdoors and multiple places to learn and play. The sport continues to grow worldwide as well, with many new international clubs forming and national governing bodies now established on multiple continents.
Steven Pustay is retired from 40 years as a high school and college educator teaching Literature, Computer Science, and Media Arts, plus managing a cable tv station and a local film festival. He holds dual undergraduate degrees in British Literature and Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
Steven spent more than 20 years with a whistle around his neck, coaching football, track, tennis, and women’s basketball. He first stepped onto a pickleball court in 1988 and has been pleasantly addicted to the game ever since. He writes a monthly newsletter and weekly blog for the Hall of Fame City Pickleball Club in Canton, Ohio and serves as the United States Pickleball Association ambassador for Massillon/Jackson.
