John “Patrick” Gannon passed away June 10, 2017 in the loving care of his wife of 45 years, Carol, after a 5 year illness with Pulmonary Hypertension. He spent those difficult years surrounded by family, daughter Erin (Douglas) Tolin, sons Michael Gannon and Mark (Kyla) Gannon and in the joyful presence of his grandsons Nathan, Connor and Gavin Tolin. His family and friends were so very special to him and he enjoyed a good talk, a great Steeler game and much laughter. Pat was born to John and Eleanor Gannon in 1949 in Carnegie, PA where he spent his young years in the South Hills with brothers, Thomas and Mark (Debbie) Gannon and with sisters Maureen (Tom) Koppenhaver and Mary Lee Gannon. He graduated in 1967 from Chartiers Valley High School loving all things that spoke of Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Pat’s college years were spent at Walsh University graduating in 1971 with a BA in Business Administration that gave him the knowledge and ability to create successful technology companies and make lifelong friends. In 1991 he was awarded the Walsh University Outstanding Alumni Award. It was at Walsh that Pat and Carol met and married in 1971. They raised their family in Canton and returned to the Walsh cornfield that they met to build their retirement home. Pat’s business achievements were many and presently served clients in JP Gannon Insurance. His past businesses were LightSpeed Technologies, Ed Tech Services, Connecting Point/ Computer World, Graphic Enterprises and ADP Dealer Services. Always involved in giving back to the community, he proudly served on the Board of Directors for Graphic Enterprises and Computer World and on the Board of Trustees of Community Services of Stark County, Walsh University Alumni Board of Trustees, Canton Rotary, HOF Mayor Breakfast, Game Day Luncheon and Coleman Behavioral Health and Family Services. Pat’s caring spirit was known to his family and friends full of compassion, integrity, laughter and a zest for life. There wasn’t an entrepreneur who worked so hard and lived life with integrity and a generous spirit. Friends may call Thursday from 12-1 p.m. at Christ the Servant Parish followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1p.m. with family friend, Monsignor Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
