Longtime Canton Rotarian Dale M. Holwick, Jr. passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Dale has been a member of the Rotary Club of Canton for 45 years and was the committee chairman of "Attendance". He was a Paul Harris Fellow +6 and was awarded the "Rotarian of the Year" award in 2012. Dale had 28 years of Perfect Attendance.

Dale Miller Holwick,Jr.,age 92, passed away Thursday. Dale was born in Canton, Ohio on Sept. 24, 1925 to the late Dale Miller Holwick and Margaret Louise Daniels. He graduated from Lehman High School in 1943 and was inducted in the U.S. Army Nov. 12, 1943 and served in Germany through the end of the war and into the occupation. He was honorably discharged May 16, 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. Dale graduated from Kenyon College in 1950 and entered the insurance business. He received the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1956. He was president of the Akron-Canton Chapter of Society of CPCU, president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Canton, and was a recognized member of the Insurance Institute Schools. Dale was a former treasurer of the United Way, former president of The Greater Canton Chamber of Commerce, charter member of the Canton Fair Housing Commission, member of the board and Vice Pres. of Canton Cemetery Association and longtime member of The Rotary Club of Canton. He retired from insurance as Senior Vice President and Secretary of Leonard Insurance Services on Dec. 31, 1990. He served as Insurance and Risk Manager and a director of Harrison Paint Corp. from Jan. 1, 1991 to Jan. 1, 1999. Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Walters Holwick; survived by sons, Jeffrey (Janet) Holwick of Missoula, Montana, Jay (Monica Schmelzer) Holwick of Somerset, Ohio; daughter, Peggy Holwick of Helena, Montana; two grandsons, J.D. Holwick and Tanner J. Holwick of Missoula, Montana; and granddaughter, Monica Schmelzer of Brooklyn, N.Y. A memorial service will be 4:00 P.M. September 21, 2018 in Faith United Methodist Church North Canton.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 300 Ninth St., N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720, or to the Canton Rotary Endowment Fund, 203 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44702.
