At our Zoom meeting on March 5, 2021, President Drew Pelger opened the meeting by welcoming a total of 37 Canton Rotarians (live at John's Bar and also via Zoom), as well as our guest speaker, Dr. Celia Williamson and perspective member, Ryan Robinson.

Becky Clark presented the following interesting historical facts for the day:
  • 1964 - boxing great Cassius Clay changes his name to Muhammad Ali
  • 1967 - Jimmy Hoffa enters Lewisville Federal prison
  • 1967 - PBS begins broadcasting in Dawson, GA
  • 1972 - Jack Nicholas passes Arnold Palmer as golf's all time money winner
  • 1981 - Walter Cronkite signs off as anchorman of CBS evening news
Becky Clark also presented the following quote for the day and asked if anyone could guess who this person was:

It is utterly impossible for me to build my life on a foundation of chaos, suffering and death.
I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness, I hear approaching thunder that,
one day, will destroy us too.  I feel the suffering of millions.  And yet, when I look up at the sky,
I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty, too, shall end, that
peace and tranquility will return once more.

*Anne Frank was 14 when she wrote this in her diary, and died one year later on July 15, 1944 in a concentration camp.

Becky Clark received "Happy Bucks" from President Drew Pelger, Paul Hervey, Jon Adland, Mark Clendenin, Bob Matthews, Sam Shaheen, Michelle Charles and PDG/PP Bob Pattison.
