President Scott Johnson:  Good Afternoon and welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!! 

Our International call to action for 2023-2024 is “Create Hope in the World.”  Our club’s call to action is “Imagine Mountain View Rotary.”

Greeter & Thought for the Day: Jack Wong offered a quote “Embrace the power of collective goodwill.  In unity, we find strength, in service we discover purpose.  Together, let us create a legacy of positive impact and endruing change.” “Plant seeds of kindness, and watch a garden of compassion bloom.  Every Act of generosity, no matter how small, has the potential to transform the world around us.” 
 
Introduction of Visitors:  Nilesh Kapse – Rotarian of Bangalore.  Was a member of Santa Rosa, Mountain View before moving clubs to Bangalore.  He considers Mountain View Rotary is home.  He is a graphic designer, focus on branding, web application, and Ecommerce.  Scott and Nilesh exchanged flags.
 
General Club Announcements:
- 27th Annual Cops and Globbers will be held Sunday, November 19th at 9:00 am at 1000 Villa Street, Mountaountain View
- Dark on Nov 21 – Happy Thanksgiving
- Nov 24, John Akkaya, owner of Ristorante Don Giovanni in Mountain View will be serving Free Thanksgiving meals to any and all 10-2 pm.  It’s his way of giving back to the community.
- Social @5 pm Location TBD
- Holiday Party on Dec 9 – 6:00-900 PM at Le Petit Bistro.
 
Red Badge Announcement:  Alexander Amoroso sponsored by Paul Reinhart.  Alexander is a Captain in the United States Army Reserve.  He is married and a local Mountain View Resident.
 
SPEAKER:
Cathy Merrill, Mountain View Foundation Chair, spoke about Rotary Foundation.  Every Rotarian gives every year makes life changing, sustainable projects possible.  139 million was given to the annual fund, 34% of Rotarians donated to the annual fund, 82% of Rotary clubs supported the annual fund, and 2066 global grants awarded.  Annual Fund – Share. The Rotary Foundation transforms the gifts into service projects that change the lives close to home and around the world.  Donation is invested for three years, growth supports Foundation operations.  World Fund – Global Grants and Programs and District Designated Funds (DDF) is split between District Grants and Global Grants.  Annual Funds – areas of focus:  Environment, Community Economic Development, Basic Education and Literacy, Maternal and Child Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, disease prevention and treatment and peacebuilding and conflict prevention.  Rotary Foundation continues to far exceed the standards set by independent charity rating services like Charity Navigator.  91% of funds are spent on program awards and operations.  The foundation has earned 13 consecutives four star ratings from Charity Navigator.  The Foundation helps Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment and alleviating poverty.
 
Cathy Merrill and Tom Moran were both recognized with the Paul Harris Award.
