President Tori Atwell Greeting:  Good Afternoon and welcome to the Rotary Club of Mountain View where: We’re More Than A Club…We’re a Family!!!

Introduction of Visitors:  Scott introduced Cpt. Alex Amoroso, military technician, 63rd Readiness Division, US Army Reserve. He is interested in service, mentorship and education.
 
Special presentation: In honor of Dave Cole a donation was presented to Chiung-Chi Chen, Director of Development, Community School of Music and Arts. Dave had a passion for the school. From 2017 to 2019, he arranged for Rotary volunteers to assist as hosts and ushers at free community concerts.
 
General Club Announcements:
  • Board meeting this Thursday, September 21, 4:45pm, at 160 Main Street, Los Altos. Topics include the crab feed, poker night, speaker contest, Interact, ELC, donations and scholarships.
  • Heather reported the Mountain View Firefighters Random Acts will be hosting their 16th Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction on Saturday, October 14, 8am-11am, at Fire Station 4, 229 N. Whisman Rd., Mountain View.
  • Scott announced the MV Chamber of Commerce is hosting an appreciation party for Mountain View Art and Wine Festival volunteers at Shoreline Amphitheatre this Thursday, September 21, 5:30pm-7:30pm.
  • Paul is planning a Stevens Creek Trail clean up on a Saturday morning, 9am-11am, in late October or early November.
 
SPEAKER:
Chiung-Chi Chen from CSMA was the guest speaker. Their mission is to make the arts accessible to all. There are 60 schools in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties serving 28K students of all ages. 20K are served through in-school art and music programs. The school provides private lessons in over 20 instruments. Financial aid is available as well as merit scholarships. The preschool offers art and music classes to children ages 2-5 including children from low-income families. There are weekly art, music and dance classes for students with autism and developmental disabilities. Silicon Valley employees may take classes through the corporate arts program.
 
A fundraiser for CSMA will be at Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club on Saturday, October 7, 5pm-9:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online at arts4all.org.
