Message From President Steve Rainbolt

Weekly Club News Update!

6/10/2015

Last Week’s Meeting. Ted Keech hosted last week’s annual recognition of the Club’s Past Presidents. Many of the Past Presidents were in attendance and Ted acknowledged each with a couple of exceptions. He forgot to mention Bob Gustke tenure and some felt he should have included John Bertolotti as the president of RIM and for his one and only day serving as the Club President. The contributions from our Past Presidents have defiantly helped make the Club what it today. Ted had comments about several Past Presidents which were entertaining to say the least and reminded our members of the Club’s colorful history. Thanks Ted for hosting one of the Club’s favorite meetings.

Dan Holder verified that it was no rumor that he failed to tell his wife Anna that he accepted the President Elect position until several months after the selection. He even tried to keep Anna from learning about it at the annual Valentine dinner by telling others not to bring it up. But alas someone did accidently let the word out and Dan was had.

Polio Plus. If you have not done so already don’t forget to submit your Polio Plus pledge either by writing a check to Rotary International of by going on-line at Rotary.org. If you do it by check please give it to Ted Morehead.

Silicon Valley BBQ Championships. In a little more than two weeks the 4th Annual SVBBQ Championships takes place. Many members have been involved in the planning for the Clubs largest fundraiser. Soon it will be time to implement and all club members need to make every effort to support this event by signing up for at least two shifts. This event allows us to do the things that make us a vibrant Club. Let’s recognize the BBQ committee’s hard work by filling available shift slots on the signup sheet that will be up at this week’s meeting. Yes, life’s events sometimes get in the way of helping so if you are not able to volunteer asked a friend or neighbor to stand if for you. Volunteering is what Rotarians do. It will be fun, it will be rewarding, and you will learn more about your fellow Rotarians -I guarantee it.

This Weeks Meeting. We are returning to the Bay Club for this week’s meeting featuring Tim Richie as our guest speaker. Tim is the President of the Tech Museum and will be sharing plans and doings at the Museum. The Tech Museum is a local treasure so doesn’t miss the opportunity to learn more about it at the meeting.

See you on Thursday.
