Weekly Club News Update!

Happy New Year Everyone!

We ended the year with the Club’s Annual Holiday Dinner which I hope everyone attending found enjoyable. A big thanks to Erich Smith and Heather Knight along with the Hilton Staff for providing an excellent meal, to Jim Landes and Jennifer Flippen for the BRV wines and tastings, to Dan Holder for arranging the entertainment, to Joe and Linda Sweeny for managing the check-in, and to Diamond Mike for the special gifts a few attendees won. Ken Rowell provided the inspiration and did what you would expect him to do—made it fun and led the Club in singing Silent Night.

Keeping with tradition for the Holiday Dinner, Bob Ricks, Chairman of the 2016-2017 President Selection Committee introduce Miten Marfatia as the President Elect-Elect. Also introduce were Maria Daane and Tressa Williams to serve a two year term on the board of directors staring July 1, 2015. Congratulations to all of you.

Chief Mike Sellers arranged for the Club and five other local service organizations to participate in the 49er Toy Drive prior to the game on Dec. 20

th. Volunteers were asked to roam the parking lots seeking cash and toy donations. Combined, the six groups raised over $6,000. The funds were divided between the six organizations and the Clubs portion will go towards next year’s Christmas for Kids. Thanks to Pastor Bill and wife Sheila, Mario Bouza, Miten Marfatia, Frank Walsh, Harbir Bhatia plus friend, and I plus friend for working the lots. It was fun and, thanks to Chief Sellers, it looks like this will be an annual event for the Club.

This week’s meeting, the first for 2015, will be a Club Assembly. We will get updates on ELC 2015 and BBQ 2015 among other items. A great chance to ask questions, offer suggestions and listen to our members as we map out some of the events over the next six months.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone as we start the New Year. I can hardly wait.
