Mayor, City of Cupertino

Rod Sinks was elected to the Cupertino City Council in November 2011 and is currently serving as Mayor. His first term will end in 2016.

He champions issues including education, economy and environment. Regionally, he serves on the Bay Area Air Quality District Board, the Cities Association of Santa Clara County Executive Board, and the West Valley Mayors and Managers group. He is on the City’s Audit and Fiscal Strategic Committees, and Council Liaison to local school districts. 

Rod served the community as a Scoutmaster and YMCA Adventure Guides Leader for many years, and is currently Chair of the Cupertino Rotary Club’s Community Services Committee. Rod earned a BA in Physics from Grinnell College and BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He helped lead two high tech start-ups from infancy to successful businesses in engineering management roles.
