For more than seventy-five years, the Kentland Rotary Club has been a service club, and as Rotarians, we seek opportunities to serve others within our club, around our community, through our vocations, and with international partnerships.
In recent years, our club's service activities have focused on contributions to the Rotary Foundation - to help eradicate polio from the face of the earth - and our own scholarship program for South Newton High School graduates and adults from within our community. Since 1994 our club has provided 196 scholarships worth $188,600.00. The club annually conducts a Truck Raffle, which enables us to financially assist the scholarship program.
Two annual pancake breakfasts help support other projects such as: footbridges in Kentland, a water tank for potable water in a Mexican village, assistance for the local food pantry, pre-school, parks projects, and the building of ramps for persons with handicaps.
During the weeks leading up to Christmas we provide food vouchers to families and individuals in need and we bag groceries at the local Grocery Store.
We annually sponsor local youth to attend programs such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA), Rotary's International Affairs Conference, and our own Students-in-Government/Business Day.
Since 2014 we sponsor an Interact club at South Newton High School.
We look forward to continuing to put service above self as we strive to “be a gift to Kentland and the world.”
