Night Meetings Begin for Rotary Club of the Rockaways
Join Your Neighbors in Local, Charitable Events
and Make Friends
Join your neighbors in the Rockaway area for the first evening meeting of the Rotary Club of the Rockaways, and make friends while supporting community charities. This inaugural meeting will be held Monday, July 18, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Rockaway River Barn Restaurant located at 11 Green Pond Road. Anyone who lives or works in Rockaway or the surrounding area is invited to stop in anytime during those hours. We will continue to meet at The Barn every third Monday of the month.
“Times are changing and we recognize that to attract new members we need to make our meeting times more accessible,” says Denise Nickel, Past President. “We invite anyone in the community who would like to join our group to drop by, mingle with us and learn a little about the Rotary Club.” People are also welcome to attend the club’s regular meetings at the Exchange Restaurant in Rockaway at 12:15 PM every Wednesday or at the Assembly of God Church in Rockaway at 7:30 AM on Wednesdays.
The Rotary Club of the Rockaways is the local chapter of Rotary International, an organization dedicated to humanitarian service at the global and community levels. The club is involved in supporting the Rockaway Food Closet and maintaining Park Lake Gazebo, as well as running the Rockaway Halloween Festival, Easter Bunny Breakfast and annual donation of dictionaries for every third grader in Rockaway Township and Rockaway Borough. This dedication to education is further reinforced through monthly academic certificates and annual college scholarships the group awards to Rockaway students.
