EVENING MEETING THIS WEEK!

The Rockaway Rotary Club will hold our monthly evening meeting this Monday, September 19, 2016 starting at 6:30 PM.  The meeting will be held at the "Rockaway River Barn Restaurant" on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township.  Join us to meet our members and hear about all of the charitable endeavors undertaken by our club to benefit our communities and the world.  Rotarians are each encouraged to invite a friend or colleague to join us for this meeting.
 
There will be no lunch meeting this Wednesday.  The AM breakfast meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 AM.

At our September 14th lunch meeting, the Rotary Club of the Rockaways welcomed Colleen Reardon as our club's newest member.  Colleen works at Town Hall for the Borough of Rockaway.  She was sponsored for membership by Rockaway Borough Clerk and Rockaway Rotary President Sheila Seifert.

IN MEMORIUM - WILLIAM (BILL) POJEDINEC

On September 11, 2016, Rockaway Rotarian William (Bill) Pojedinec passed away.  Bill was president of our club in 2010-2011 and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 2011.  Bill's wife and former Rockaway Rotarian MaryAnn passed away a few weeks prior.  Our condolences to Bill and MaryAnn's families.
 
GIFT OF LIFE ANNUAL MEETING
The Gift of Life Annual Meeting will take place on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of NJ, 60 N Jefferson Rd, Whippany, NJ 07981 beginning at 6:00 PM cocktails (cash bar) and 7:00 PM dinner and program.  The cost is $35 per person.  The feature guest speaker will be Ms. Barbara Ciconte, President, Take Heart Association Project, USA. Ms. Ciconte will share her experiences of helping to save children from Kenya who suffer from congenital heart disease; children who would otherwise perish without your support.   Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how your dollars are helping us to save children around the world…one little heart at a time!

CELEBRATE ROCKAWAY DAY STREET FAIR

Rockaway Rotary will be participating in the "Celebrate Rockaway" Street Fair on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in the center of Rockaway Borough.  We will need numerous member volunteers for this event. Details will be provided during upcoming club meetings.

VOCATIONAL ASSEMBLY

This year's Statewide Vocational Assembly to be held on October 5, 2016 at the Pines Manor in Edison. Our district will be presenting our Vocational Service Award to Denise Current from the Newton Rotary Club.  Assembly speakers include Past RI President Rick King and Investors Bank CEO Kevin Cummins.  If interested in attending, please download ticket order form below.  The district hopes for a good turnout to recognize Denise and honor the Vocational Service of all Rotarians in our state.

They are easy to do and very effective in maintaining your attendance requirements for our club.  Just click on a link under E-Makeups at the top of our webpage and follow the instructions.  Remember to submit a report to George, our Club Secretary.  It is easy to do and it doesn't matter which e-club you visit!
