At our May 3rd club lunch meeting, Ralph Hansen, owner of The Caring Coach in Denville, spoke to our members about the specialized needs of the elderly with mobility problems and the assistive transportation services his company offers to those who need assistance getting to appointments for medical purposes, etc.  For more information go to thecaringcoach.com
 
At our April 12th lunch meeting, Mike Obremski, Area Manager for JCP&L presented our members and guests with an overview of the processes that the company has in place to deal with severe weather related outages and new communication tools available to the public to report and track outages.
 
At our March 8th lunch meeting, Diane Vezzuto, PE of the Denville Rotary Club and Owner of Caring Transitions of Rockaway, spoke to our members about her company's approach to downsizing and senior relocation.  "Caring Transitions takes a compassionate approach to downsizing by helping clients rightsize their possessions for a new or existing home."  For seniors relocating, Caring Transitions will "develop a plan and manage the process to provide a huge amount of relief and speed up the process."  For more information go to www.CaringTransitionsRockawayNJ.com.
 
At our February 15th club meeting, John Michaud from New Pathway spoke to our members about New Pathway's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Addiction.
 
At the February 1st club meeting, our members were not only amazed by the feats of strength demonstrated by our speaker, Eric Moss, but also were inspired by his life story and thoughts on life, perseverance. and going beyond self-limiting beliefs for high achievement.  For more information go to ericmossfitness.com
 
At our January 11, 2017 club meeting, Richard Cooke, Homeownership Sustainability Coordinator from Morris Habitat for Humanity spoke to our members about the "Aging in Place" Program.  Morris Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a Capacity Building Grant from Habitat for Humanity International to expand its Neighborhood Revitalization Program to include a new “Aging in Place” program.  Described as “Home Support for Seniors,” the home repair program is targeted at mobility, accessibility and energy efficiency improvements that enable senior residents to continue to live in their own homes longer and to be able to maintain their independence. Eligibility is based on age, income guidelines, home ownership and being current with tax and mortgage payments.
 
At the December 7th lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of the Rockaways, Ann F. Grossi, Esq., Morris County Clerk, spoke about the responsibilities of and services provided by the Morris County Clerk's office.
 
At our November 16th lunch meeting, Lisa Firkser, Director, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Morris and Sussex Counties was our guest speaker.
 
At our November 9th lunch meeting, Christine Connelly & Bob Feid shared about USA Fistball and their trip to Germany for the IFA 2016 U18 Women's and Men's World Championship.
 
At our November 2, 2016 lunch meeting, Rockaway Rotarians received an update from Christine Zelinsky concerning the Rockaway Food Closet which serves the needs of over 130 families in the Rockaway Borough and Township communities. The Rotary Club of the Rockaways is an ongoing supporter of this valuable family resource as we continue our efforts to fight hunger in our communities.
 
At our Wednesday, October 12th lunch meeting, Dr.Greg McGann, Superintendent of the Rockaway Township Public Schools, was our speaker. Dr. McGann shared information regarding a number of facility and technical upgrades that have taken place in the township schools over the summer. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of the Rockaway Rotary Club through its annual dictionary distribution to all 3rd graders in Rockaway schools.
 
At the September 28th lunch meeting, Robert & Melissa Kanapaux of the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home informed the members of Rockaway Rotary about the importance of prearranging and prefunding one's funeral. Preplanning a funeral will help take the pressure off one's family members during a difficult time and will also allow for one's desires as it pertains to the final arrangements to be made clear.
 
At our club's Wednesday, September 14th lunch meeting, Assistant Governor Roland Basinski shared with the club about the Rotary Foundation, its Annual Giving program and the benefits of giving to the Rotary Foundation.  AG Basinski is the District 7470 Annual Fund Chairperson.
 
At our club's Wednesday, September 7th lunch meeting we had DG Margit Rahill as our guest and she shared about her upcoming year as District Governor of District 7470.
 
At our August 31st lunch meeting, Scott Davan, Director of the Rockaway Township Free Public Library, and Darlene Steinhart, Head of Youth Services at the library, shared about a number of resources available for the youth of the Rockaway community. Included in these resources are "Take Home STEAM Kits", Tag Readers, Homework Help, and Bullying Resources. For more info, check out their webpage, www.rtlibrary.org.
 
At our August 10, 2016 lunch meeting, Samantha Krumpfer,  who participated in the Ross Redmond Short-Term Youth Exchange trip to Japan this summer, shared her experiences with our club members.
 
At our club's Wednesday, August 3rd lunch meeting, Matthew Ruttler and Sierra Spriggs from The Valerie Fund Camp Happy Times shared about their annual camp for cancer patients and survivors aged 5-21. This camp provides these children and young adults opportunities for friendship, independence and developing a spirit of cooperation.
 
Cheri Foster, Rockaway Rotarian and owner of Mane Attraction Salon in Rockaway Borough, was our speaker this past Wednesday, July 13, 2016.  Cheri gave a presentation on the history of cosmetology and outlined the changes and advancements made through the years to hair products and equipment. 
 
At our first meeting of the new Rotary year, Larry Schuffman, President of the Randolph Rotary Club, gave an informative and entertaining presentation regarding the History of American Currency.  Utilizing a game show format, Larry quizzed members knowledge of historical US currency and its relation to important people and events in our country's history.
