The first meeting of our new Rotary year was held at our new venue, Oakmont at Continental Country Club. President Jeff called the meeting to order at 12:10, and drew our attention to the Programs and Social brochures on the table.  This brochure will be updated at regular intervals.  President Jeff noted that Steve has programs scheduled well into the Rotary year.  All Flagstaff Rotary speakers and events are listed on our club calendar on the website. (www.flagstaffrotary.com).

Our speaker today was Todd Whitney, Director of Coconino County Emergency Management. Mr. Whitney shared with us the importance of being prepared in case of an emergency. Did you know that Coconino County is the second largest county in the country, larger than five states.  Because of this massive size it is difficult for Emergency Management to cover the entire county with staff.  Therefore, Mr. Whitney urged all residents to sign up for emergency notification via email or text to allow  us  to be more quickly notified in case of emergency.  Your emergency profile can include custom information regarding your needs, to be sure the County is aware of your needs in case of emergency.  Mr. Whitney cited the use of oxygen or the need to relocate livestock as examples.  You can register on the county site at Coconino.az.gov/ready.  Mr. Whitney fielded a number of questions after he concluded his remarks.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00pm.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Our scheduled speaker is Don Rowley of the Arizona Daily Sun.  Have a good week!
