Helping Developmentally Challenged Kids on the Mid-Peninsula

Ryan has been a special education professional for over 15 years.  Having spent time as a teacher, administrator, and a non-profit leader, Ryan joined AchieveKids this past summer to lead the organization into the future.  Ryan earned his doctorate from the University of Southern California, conducting research on the efficiency of special education outsourcing, investigating public-private partnerships to meet the needs of students with complex disabilities.   Throughout his career Ryan has worked in both the public and private sectors, helping design and innovate programming to meet the needs of the most complex learners in our communities.

Beyond his professional experience, Ryan has a brother with complex learning needs.  His brother, Jason, non-verbal, and on the autism spectrum, helped influence Ryan’s person centered approach to education.  Ryan credits his observations of his parents’ experiences to his philosophy of creating schools that are safe and welcoming to all who walk through their doors.

Ryan is a proud special education professional.  Beyond his role with as Executive Director of AchieveKids, Ryan is on the board of directors for CAPSES, a state-wide special education advocacy group.  He also belongs to county and state affiliations, aimed at advocacy for equity in education for all students.
