An Insider's Tour of S.F.'s Chinatown with Gloria Hom

    Fourteen spots remain for this very special event!   An insider's tour of San Francisco's Chinatown with our personal tour guide, Gloria Hom.  We will carpool separately to San Francisco, arriving by 9:45 a.m.,  parking at the Portsmouth Plaza Parking Garage.  We will meet Gloria at 10:00 AM in the park above the Portsmouth Garage.  From there, our first stop will be a sumptuous diem sum brunch at Great Eastern Cafe. The meaning of diem sum is the "touch of the heart".  The beauty of this meal is the servings are small but the variety large, so it's a "touch of the palate".

     Included on our personal tour will be the back alleys of Chinatown, buildings of historical interest, family associations, tongs, benevolent societies, a Buddhist Temple, Taoist Temple, Fortune Cookie Company, the new Chinatown YMCA, Cameron House, and both the Chinese Historical Society and Cultural Center.  All this before we say good-bye to Gloria at 2:30!!  Price for the tour is $40.00 per person and includes the diem sum brunch.  This tour is limited to 30 people.  A sign-up clipboard will be passed at the August 20th meeting.
