2017 Kick-Out Dinner

David Smith's year as President of LARC is coming to a close.  He has definitely made the Los Altos Rotary Club "even better" than it has been before.  At least, what's what he's told us every week at the close of the meeting.

There's no doubt that this is true: $27,700 was given in Community Grants in November, and then another pile will be given away on June 1. New TVs were installed in the Garden House to greatly add to members' individual viewing pleasure. Computer AV issues were kept to a minimum, at least compared to PP Jerry, while the food at meetings continued to be good, although it's unclear whether David had anything to do with that.

The Art Show was a logistical and social success and everyone had a good time in spite of the warm-ish weather. There were some improvements and innovations under David's administration, notably the addition of a second entertainment stage, and a new layout for the tables, decreasing the congestion caused with foot traffic interfered with the food lines.

The event to celebrate David's service in 2016-2017, will coincide with the elevation of Frank Verlot to the office of LARC President.  The induction of President-Elect Allan Varni will also take place.  (What's going on here?  Is WCS going to lay siege to the entire LARC hierarchy, or is that committee just turning out to be a proving ground for future LARC presidents?) Come and see.  

We will also thank three departing LARC Board members, welcome three new ones, and recognize the continuing members for their service.  

And who will David pick as "Rotarian of the Year?"

• There is no fee for this dinner for LARC members (your annual dues include this dinner), but you must sign up by June 23.
• There is an $80 fee for your guest(s), and they must also be signed up and paid for by June 23. Checks payable to LARC (please give or mail to Sandie Whipple).
• Country club dress code will be in effect. Business-casual or better, only. No denim jeans, t-shirts, shorts, tennis shoes or flip flops are allowed.
• Bottles of wine will be available for purchase, or you may bring a bottle of wine and pay a $15 corkage fee/bottle. A cash-only, no-host bar will be open during cocktail hour from 6-7 pm. UPDATE: THE CORKAGE FEE WILL BE PAID BY THE CLUB.
