Welcome to Wonderland: YESS Gala for Youth
Friday April 27, 2018 – Shaw Conference Centre
 
Join us for a night of fantastical whimsy and wonder at the YESS Gala for Youth 2018.
Your support provides vital resources to youth dealing with difficult realities while strengthening YESS’s ability to empower and engage this vulnerable population.
Find yourself transported down the rabbit hole into the land of possibility as we paint the roses red and enjoy a spectacular evening of gourmet treats and awe-inspiring entertainment.

Volunteer Positions Required:

Set-Up Support (4) Thursday April 26 - 11-5PM
Set-Up Support (4) Friday April 27 - 10-2PM
Set-Up Support is a vital part of our events. We need some extra hands to help haul, hang, drape, layout and prop! This position requires the volunteer to be able bodied as there is much lifting and carrying.
 
Registration & Income Activities (8) April 27 – 5:00-7:30PM
You will be stationed at the Registration Desk to monitor the guest list (checking guests in as they arrive), handing out programs and table numbers to each guest. You will need to be good at list checking, remaining calm under pressure, and kind and amicable with guests.
               
Raffle Sales (4) – 5:30–10:00PM
Your team of 4 will be selling Raffle Tickets, 2 will be stationed at a table and 2 will be roving throughout the room. These volunteers need to be charismatic, enjoy selling to people, and be able to work alone. There will be 2 raffles, a jewelry raffle and a wine raffle; tickets are $25 each for both raffles. The winner of the jewelry raffle will win one jewelry prize and the winner of the wine raffle will win all of the bottles of wine. The winners will be announced at the end of the night. Any unclaimed prizes will be auctioned off.
 
Live Auction Spotter (4) – 7:30–10:00PM
As live Auction Spotters, you will assist the auctioneer by pointing out active bidders.  Spotters will work in pairs to ensure the auction goes smoothly.  Each pair will need to have at least one person who is vocal and outgoing, as they will need to communicate effectively with bidders in the audience and the auctioneer onstage throughout the auction.
 
Silent Auction Assistant (6) 5:00–10:00PM
As Silent Auction Assistant, you will assist with the running of the silent auction.  You will be expected to familiarize yourself with the silent auction items in your section, as well as where the other silent auction tables are located. You will need to be familiar with the silent auction procedures, including how the silent auction works and when the bid sheets are closed. 
 
Auction Payment Assistant (12) 8:30-11:00PM
As Auction Payment Assistant, you will assist the payment team with taking the receipt and helping to collect silent auction and live auction purchases. You will be paired up and assigned to one of the six pay stations. You will work as a team to ensure the silent auction items are collected for guests as quickly as possible.
 
Tear Down Support (6) 10:00 PM to Midnight         
The Tear Down Support will assist in the complete dismantling of the Gala.  This position requires the volunteer to be able bodied, as there is much lifting and carrying.
 
Each volunteer will receive a free parking pass, t-shirt, and dinner.  We ask that everyone wear black pants.
