Sep. 30, 2014
Meeting convenes at the Selkirk Hotel, Fort Edmonton Park |
||
Sep. 30, 2014 12:10 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
The Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona will be holding their weekly lunch meeting starting at 12:00 noon Tuesday September 30, 2014 at Fort Edmonton Park at the Selkirk Hotel. The history of Rotary & Fort Edmonton goes back 50 plus years. Fort Edmonton Park was a major Rotary project when it was originally constructed. There is now an ongoing renewal of Rotary Clubs in Edmonton helping develop this classic Edmonton historical park. In order to get a better understanding of this history and the current and future plans for Fort Edmonton Park we have scheduled our lunch meeting at the Selkirk Hotel. We will have the Director of Fort Edmonton Park , Bill Demchuck as our guest speaker for the day. This promises to be a fun and informative Rotary Club meeting. Please plan to attend and feel free to invite friends and family to join us for what promises to be a great day! Please RSVP so we can confirm the approximate number of Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona members and guests to Fort Edmonton for catering and hosting purposes. Yours in Rotary, Eric Germain, Event Chair |

There has never been a time that Canadian companies are under more pressure to ensure their brand is protected from the dangers of bad publicity through both traditional and social media. At the same time, there is a growing list of CEO’s who have ended up in the corporate graveyard because of something they have said or done in the news media, on social media, or on a hidden camera. Grant Ainsley is one of Canada’s most popular media trainers and he works with CEO’s, politicians, industry association leaders and others to make sure they are prepared to speak to the media and deliver effective messages on behalf of their organizations. He also speaks about the need for organizations to prepare themselves to reduce their chances of appearing in the media spotlight for the wrong reasons. He says communications and social media policies are essential for companies today. The author of the book The Honest Spin Doctor will be speaking to our Rotary Club on October 28. Grant Ainsley's book, "The Honest Spin Doctor", will be available at the meeting. Open this LINK to see information sheet. Grant Ainsley Inc. |

Dec. 09, 2014 6:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Please join us for the annual Christmas Party of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona on December 9, 2014.
It will be held once again at the Edmonton Golf and Country Club. This is an event not to be missed. Dennis Meneely. who entertained us musically at the 40th, will do so again with oldies but goodies sprinkled with the odd Holiday favourite. The Zebra Child Protection Centre are once again the specific choice of donations this Christmas season. The Centre has specified they are especially short of pyjamas for the 12 – 18 age range, both girls and boys. For those in the know, I am advised that the ‘onesies’ are popular amongst girls; otherwise tank tops/bottoms for girls and t-shirts/bottoms for boys. To ensure total Club participation if you are not attending the dinner, Rose Marie will accept donations from members prior to Christmas at which time they will be delivered to the Centre. NB: for those attending the Christmas Dinner, do not forget the wrapped and hopefully useful item recycled from your home for the fun gift exchange that has become popular at Christmas’ past. Dress: Professional Dress – no denim allowed in the Club Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7p.m.. Please register as soon as possible. Deadline for tickets: Registration deadline¨December 5th payable in advance to Rose Marie or Diana or on-line Need technical assistance? Contact Hans Granholm, 780-466-5566 |
