Volunteer Job Descriptions & Expectations

Sellers
The majority of volunteers (50) will sell 50/50 tickets in the concourses at Rogers Place at designated locations. Sellers will be responsible for making themselves noticeable to the public in order to encourage customers to buy tickets. The most effective and successful Sellers are outgoing and enthusiastic individuals. After ticket sales end, Sellers may be asked to assist in organizing the aprons and/or performing other duties in the Count Room.

Cash Counters
Several volunteers (10) will count cash in the Count Room. Counters will be stationed in the Count Room for the duration of the evening and will be handing cash in a time-pressured environment. After all of the cash is counted, Counters may be asked to assist with other duties in the Count Room.

Dockers
Two (2) volunteers will serve as Dockers, and will be stationed in the Count Room for the duration of the evening. They will be responsible for docking the individual selling devices to a laptop, printing off the seller summary and ensuring a new batch of tickets are downloaded correctly to each device.

Printer Assistant
One (1) volunteer will serve as Printer Assistant, and will be stationed in the Count Room for the duration of the evening. They will be responsible for watching the ticket printers to ensure everything is printing properly and changing the printer paper. Please note: this volunteer is required to stand for the duration of the evening.

Coordinators
Two (2) volunteers should be pre-assigned as Coordinators. These Coordinators will assist Foundation 50/50 staff in organizing other volunteers in the Count Room for the duration of the evening. It is helpful if these two individuals know the other volunteers by name and/or face, but is not required.

Bookkeeper and Coin Counter
Two (2) volunteers will serve as Bookkeeper and Coin Counter. These volunteers will be stationed in the Count Room for the duration of the evening and will handle, sort, and count all of the 50/50 cash and prepare the money for deposit. The best volunteers for these positions will be experienced handling cash, using coin and bill counting machines, have attention to detail, and be skilled in mathematics. The Bookkeeper should be pre-assigned by your organization’s 50/50 Coordinator.
All volunteers will be responsible for handling a moderate amount of cash. Please note that volunteering for the 50/50 Raffle is demanding. There exists a high level of time pressure and volunteers need to be ready to work immediately upon their arrival.
