L.E.A.P. for Mankind Awards and Gala Fundraiser

 

 

Started in 2022, the Rotary Club of Space Center, sponsors an annual Awards Evening and Gala Fundraiser in the Early Spring Timeframe. The event is twofold:

1.        To recognize an Individual and Businesses for demonstrating key core and admirable humanitarian principles, while aligning with the Rotary’s Service Areas of Focus, and

2.        To conduct a Silent and Live Auction to raise funds for the Club’s many Service Projects and local non-profit organizations in the Clear Lake area.

This year’s Awards Gala and Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center, 2500 South Shore Blvd, League City, TX 77573.

The LEAP Awards are presented annually by the Rotary Club of Space Center and awarded to community members that embody the Rotary 4-Way Test, have made significant humanitarian contribution within at least one of the Rotary Areas of (Service) Focus, and demonstrate the core principles of the LEAP Award:

 

Leadership – Excellence – Achievement – Philanthropy

 

The Rotary Areas of Service Focus Include:

1.        Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

2.        Disease prevention and treatment

3.        Water and sanitation

4.        Maternal and child health

5.        Basic education and literacy

6.        Economic and community development

7.        Supporting the environment

 

There are two categories of the LEAP Award:

 

Individual: A Bay Area community member who has significantly contributed to or participated in humanitarian efforts associated with at least one of the Rotary Areas of Service Focus in recent years, and currently resides in the Bay Area Houston Region. This person could be a government employee, commercial businessperson, philanthropist, or a member of a non-profit organization (often referred to as an NGO – non-government organization).

Business: A Bay Area community organization that has significantly contributed to or participated in humanitarian efforts associated with at least one of the Rotary Areas of Service Focus in recent years, either by physical or in-kind donations or volunteer hours.

Award recipients will receive:

a)  Customized award,

b)  $1,000 Donation to their non-profit organization of choice, and

c)  Recognition at LEAP Gala, along with other award recipients.
