Kingwood Rotary Club had a great 2015-2016 Rotary Year (which is July 1, 2015 thru June 30, 2016), and we are proud of our accomplishments!  
 
We've made a world of difference in our own community and also to the lives of those less fortunate around the world - and while doing so, our own lives were changed by serving others.  Also...WE HAD FUN TOGETHER!
 
 
 
COMMUNITY PROJECTS:,
Filled the freezers with 600 pounds of meat for The Door, which is FamilyTime’s shelter for battered women & children
● Purchased 600 pounds of meat for Mission NorthEast which serves the needy and elderly in 9 local zip codes
● Held three community blood drives since July 2015 with another one planned for May 2015
● Contributed $500 to the Houston Chapter of the Blue Star Moms for shipping supplies to families members in our military
● Volunteered at the Alspaugh’s 4th of July BBQ & donate funds to support local charity charities
 
● Partnered with and donated $2,000 to support the Kingwood Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (VFW) post
● Helped "Fill the Pantry" at Mission NorthEast by selling 125 grocery bags of non-perishable food at our booth at Kroger
● Donated Valentine's Day floral arrangements to the moms living in the battered women's shelter in Humble, The Door.  
● Donated Easter baskets for the kids and gift bags to the moms that live in the battered women's shelter in Humble, The Door
● Partnered with Congressman Poe's office to write and send holiday cards to our troops and Veteran's hospitals
● Donating gift boxes filled with household goods and supplies to Home Again Ministries with St. Mary Magdalene Catholic
    Church, Humble which provides new beginnings for families in multiple zip codes who are forced to start over again due to
    natural disasters and personal crisis.
● Donated $1,500 to FamilyTime's "Mothers Are Jewels" Gala to provide care for victims of domestic violence and abuse.
 
YOUTH AND EDUCATION:
● Contributed $1,300 to our local Boy Scout Troop #1011 which helps us with our "Flags Across Kingwood" fundraiser
● Sponsoring the EarlyAct FirstKnight (EAFK) Character Education Program at Bear Branch Elementary School
● Awarded scholarships to 3 Humble ISD students to attend the 3-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp in Huntsville, TX
● Served as Rotary mentors to our Humble ISD high school Interact clubs
● Sponsored education, food, and medical for a student at the School of the Dump in Chinandega, Nicaragua
● $1,000 scholarship presented to the Atascocita High School JROTC
● $3,575 scholarship to the Kingwood Park HS FFA for students to attend State of Texas FFA Leadership Competition
● Partnering with our Quest Early College HS Interact Club to provide water filters with Disaster Aid USA
● Literacy Project - Giving eight elementary libraries in Kingwood a set of 24 children’s books focusing on strong ethics & morals
● Donated auction items for our Rotary District 5890 Rotex Committee's "3rd Annual Taste of Nations" event.
 
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTS: Total:  USD337,815+ by partnering with 31 Rotary clubs
● Lead International Partner on $40,000 Rotary Grant for a Mobile Health Clinic in Mali to provide healthcare to multiple villages
● Partner with other Rotary Clubs on $83,700 grant to provide clean water to 63,000 residents in Matamoros, Mexico
● Partner with other Rotary Clubs on $92,378 Food Bank & Installation of a Soy Plant in Cartagena which will serve the poor  
● Partner with other Rotary Clubs on $121,737 project in Ghana to create jobs & increase economic stability for extremely poor
● Provided services for shipping 40' containers to School of the Dump, and also for the Rotary Books for the World Project
● Kingwood Rotarian was a member of the Rotary District 5890 Friendship Exchange to Columbia to tour Rotary service projects
 
HEALTH AND HUMANITY:
 $16,075 contributed to The Rotary Foundation which provides funds for clean water, literacy, & disease control 
●  $4,751 to The Rotary Foundation's End Polio Now Program. We provide polio vaccines for 23,755 children. 
●  Raised $1,950 in our kettle when our members volunteered to "Ring the Bell for The Salvation Army" at Wal-Mart Atascocita
●  $6,500 contributed to the Rotary Fire Fighter's Home for firefighters undergoing cancer treatment at MD Anderson, Houston
 
DISTRICT 5890 ACTIVITIES:
●  Qualified for the 12th year to receive the "Presidential Citation Award" from the President of Rotary International
●  Recipient of the District 5890 2016 "Small Rotary Club President of the Year Award" from District Governor Nick Giannone
●  Sponsored a table at District Governor Nick Giannone's Installation Ceremony
●  50% of our members attended the District 5890 Membership Seminar
●  25% of members attended the 2015 Rotary District Foundation Seminar
●  84% of members attended the 2016 Rotary District 5890/5910 All Club Meeting and sponsored two tables
●  23% of members are Paul Harris Society members
●  30% of members attending 2016 Rotary District 5890 Conference in Galveston
 Two of our members became members of the White Hat Society for their contribution to The Rotary Foundation
 Our club recommitted to being a 100% Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Club this year which we had originally achieved in 2008-2009. 
     For 2015-16, our new members became Paul Harris Fellows, and members that already were, advanced to their next Paul Harris Fellow level.
●  38% of members serve on 2015-2016 D5890 District Committees
●  Two members are Rotary Foundation Major Donors
●  Increased membership by three new members this Rotary Year
 
Our contributions to The Rotary Foundation were:

US$337,815 of Rotary Foundation Global Grants through partnerships with Rotary clubs in other countries:  Rotary Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges and work together to solve issues such as poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition with SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS that leave a lasting impact. Kingwood Rotary was the lead International Partner for a $40,000 Rotary Foundation Global Grant to provide a Mobile Health Clinic for villages in Mali...plus we partnered with other Rotary clubs on their amazing grant projects to provide: $83,700 Global Grant to provide clean water for families in Matamoros, Mexico...a $92,684 Global Grant for a Food Bank in Cartagena, Colombia...and a $121,737 Global Grant in Ghana for job training for the profoundly poor
