Our club is bringing back a Member Spotlight at the beginning of our weekly meetings by highlighting the member with the most recent or closest birthday.  The first one kicked off this week with Dave Thornton.  We will continue these highlights through the year.

Dave grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, which if you haven’t made it up to Northern Idaho you should add it to your list.  His Mom owns a women’s clothing shop downtown called Eve’s Leaves and has been a member of Rotary since Dave was in high school. His mother, Marilyn, is still very active in the Sandpoint Rotary club and is a college friend of Roger Brazier.

Dave went to college at the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) and then was fortunate to move to Boise, Idaho!  He has two great kids, Eleanor and Johnny and a wonderful wife, Stephanie.  They also recently adopted two male kittens, Gus and Finn. Dave is all about family and did some Dad Camping this summer despite COVID.  While camping, they saw two rattlesnakes and the kids caught some fish during their trip to Black Rock campground up by Idaho City.

Dave works for Idaho Power and is the Customer and Community Relations Consultant. He works on strategy, customer experience initiatives and program development for residential and small business customers. He is still working from home along with approximately 1,000 of the 2,000 Idaho Power employees.  It looks like they will continue working from home through February 2021 at the earliest.

Dave loves Rotary and our Boise Metro club.  He thoroughly enjoys seeing everyone and the comradery of our group. He also loved being a host family for a Youth Exchange student too (even though it wasn’t through Rotary) and highly recommends everyone consider being a host family in the future – a very special experience for you and your family!
