Last week we had a fascinating presentation from Christa Rowland about United Way of Treasure Valley Community School Strategy. Well, here's something we can do to support UWTV:
 
Thursday, June 17th from 4-6:30pm, the United Way of Treasure Valley will be collecting items for their Homeless Student Basic Needs Pantry. This pantry serves roughly 60 schools throughout the valley. It's our hope to supply school workers who are working through the summer with basic needs items for students who may be experiencing food insecurity and barriers to hygiene while school is not in session. And with a little luck, the pantry will remain nice and stocked for the start of school in August/September.
 
 
How to participate! Please plan to put your items in the trunk of your car and enter our parking lot on the east side of the building. You'll be greeted and given instructions to pull around back where we will unload your vehicle. You will exit the parking lot on the west side of our building:


Items needed
  • Easy to eat items such as: nuts, seeds (pumpkin, sunflower), dried fruit, protein bars/snack bars/granola bars, tuna pouches (esp if they come with a utensil), crackers, crackers with dried PB or cheese, peanut butter, cookies, beef jerky, popcorn (popped in an individual serving size bag), veggie straws, chips
  • Hygiene items: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors, combs, brushes, tampons, maxi pads, lice kits
