Once again, thanks to solid community support, the Littleton Rotary Club's annual fall Lobster Fest raised more than $13,500 in proceeds –money that has been given right back to local service organizations!   In the months following the event, the Club accepted applications from local non-profits seeking donations to help fund their work. A total of 18 groups received contribution checks ranging from $500 to $1200 during March.

The recipients of the club's donations, which span the breadth of communities in the Club’s service area, address many diverse needs from providing food for the hungry to offering recreational opportunities to local youth. Among other things, Rotary donations will be used to: build low-cost homes; provide support and incentives for those recovering from drug dependency; subsidize transformative youth camping experiences; increase mental health awareness and education; send Christmas trees to our troops; buy a month’s worth of healthy snacks for an after-school program; provide affordable dental care; find advocates for neglected and abused children; fund repairs to facilities that offer emergency shelter; and pay for needed repairs and modifications to the homes of the elderly and vulnerable.  The work of one locally based, international organization that enables impoverished children in Central America to attend school was also recognized.

Rotarians remain grateful for the community’s continued loyalty to the Lobster Fest and hope everyone will turn out again this fall.   As you see, the funds raised go a long way in allowing the Club to honor Rotary’s motto, "Service Above Self."   For further information about the Littleton Rotary Club’s events and activities, please visit www.LittletonNHRotary.org.
