The Wine Dinner Was a Success!
The Woodlands Rotary Club and its Wine Dinner Team are excited to announce that its Eighth Annual Wine Dinner raised nearly $75,000! Stay tuned as our Ninth Wine Dinner will be on February 28, 2015.
Event Chairs were Ann Wolford and Mary Matteson Parrish. Ann said, “We want to thank the entire
community for showing up and supporting our fun event. We appreciate our Rotarians who coordinated
the fantastic dinner. Our enthusiastic Committee was Julie Ambler, Diane Bass, Terry Brown, Marti Corn, Dan Cox,
Chris Denison, Sheila Dowell, Jim Eason, Bill Friebel, Bob Ham, Kay Hohman, Cyndy Kendall, Judy Larson,
Clay McCollor, Karen McJunkin, Ryan Mathes, J.R. Moore, Julie Martineau, Donna Mosher, Ashley Naquin,
Mary Jo O’Neal, Norman Parrish, Greg Parsons, Kara Richmond, Zachary Richmond, Steve Sanders, Angela
Schimmels, Ralph Schroeder, Sherry Smith, Theresa Wagaman, and Alison Yee.”
Continuing the tradition of honoring a Montgomery County elected official, the 2014 Wine Dinner toasted
Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Gage. U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady was very entertaining as the M.C.
for the evening. Lone Star College nursing student Stephanie Dunlop spoke of the impact that her Rotary
scholarship has made on her life.
Congressman Brady was joined on the stage by “toasters” State Representative Steve Toth, County Tax
Assessor J.R. Moore, and Nelda Luce Blair.
In keeping with the Texas theme for Sheriff Gage, the fun event featured Texas chic attire and table
decorations—and the famous wine pull was a highlight of the evening. New this year was the addition of
two varieties of Texas craft beer from the popular Southern Star Brewery in Conroe.
The 2014 Winemaker was Jeriko Estates. They donated a fabulous live auction item for four guests to stay
in their popular guesthouse in Mendocino County, California.
This community happening raises funds for the 501(c)(3) non-profit Rotary Foundation that supports The
Rotary Club of The Woodlands’ charitable projects. These include scholarships for local high school and Lone
Star College-Montgomery students, community service projects, food bank projects, plus donations, support,
and service for other worthy local causes.
