David Hebert of the Houston Airport System

The Rotary Club of The Woodlands was happy to have David Hebert, Communications Director of the Houston Airport System, as our weekly speaker today.

Mr. Hebert shared some information on Ellington Field, Hobby Airport and Bush Intercontinental Airport.  Serving 53 million passengers last year, a 76% increase in the last 10 years, having a $27.5 billion impact and serving 174 destinations, is one of the largest airport systems in the country.

Our strong and diverse economy, large foreign presence and population growth expected to be sustained for the next 20 years have led to ten new airlines serving the Greater Houston market.

With this growth in service, the Houston Airport System is undertaking a major upgrade plan at IAH as well as Hobby, including expanded international service.

Nine commercial spaceports exist across the United States.  The Houston Airport System is investigating the addition of this service at Ellington Field - providing point to point high speed, high altitude travel, astronaut training and satellite launch facilities.
