Girls on the Run Celebratory 5K

7:30 a.m. We arrive at Cumberland County Fairgrounds for instructions, set up parking areas, and begin directing approximately 1,500 vehicles to parking areas. Safety vests, flags, and coffee/donuts will be provided.

8:00  Running team coaches and GOTR volunteers arrive.

8:15 - 9:00   Participants arrive and Check In.

8:30 - 9:30   Happy Hair and Fun Zone (if you have hair and want to have fun ) 

9:25   Welcome announcements and Dance Party for runners 

9:45   5K begins!

10:45  -  Most participants complete 5K.  Because course route is through parking area, vehicles will not be allowed to leave parking area until approximately 10:45.  We will ensure safety of participants and direct exiting vehicles as needed.

The rest of the story:  Girls on the Run is the organization we are partnering with for our Rotary Club's Road Race in August.  Prior to their presentation as our guest speakers on May 18th we asked, "How can we help with YOUR race in June?"  They immediately replied, "Help with parking!"  So we are, because...

...on June 5 we will be the only road race people at their event with a table and our cards to hand out.  They have 200 coaches, many of whom are runners.... and many of the girls have family members who are runners as well.   They will still be in contact with the girls by mid August, and they send out emails and other information.   Links  to our race will be on their facebook page and on their website.   They will also note that 1/2 of the proceeds will go to them, so they have an incentive to get more people to our race.
