On his own inspiration, in 1974, he initiated and developed the Pre-Medicine Class in Littleton District 6 high school system (Arapahoe, Littleton and Heritage). He assembled a lecture faculty from throughout the medical profession: surgeons, nurses, pediatricians, veterinarians, psychiatrists, coroners, EMT and other technicians, etc. The class meets from 6:10AM to 7:10AM twice per week through the school year. Currently, six of the lecture faculty were former students in the class.Through his years in active practice, Sam mentored many medical school students, exposing them to his general practice as well as Littleton Rotary, which he joined in 1960.

In addition to his deep and abiding devotion to his profession and education, Sam has worked tirelessly to raise money and provide medicines and care to the aged and indigent of our community. This wonderful, kind and self-effacing man is emblematic of Rotary’s motto, "Service above Self".
