Feb. 12, 2016 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
As in years past, the Libby Bortz Center will have a Valentine's Dance for the residents complete with a live dance band. This will be held on Friday February 12th at 2:00 pm in the main dining room. There will be about 45-50 residents in attendance, mostly women, and some will want to dance. Considering the shortage of resident male dance partners, here's where Littleton Rotary has been a big help. We're asking that several of our male members put on their dancing shoes and volunteer one hour of their time as dance partners for some of the residents. We also need some of our female members to volunteer as well since there are a few male residents who would love the chance to dance with someone new. Those that have done so in the past have really enjoyed the experience. Please sign up for this happy occasion and make someone's Valentine's celebration a memorable one. |

Littleton Rotary volunteers will once again join forces to save and box up the floral displays at the conclusion of the 2016 Garden & Home Show. Those displays will then be distributed to Littleton area assisted living and nursing centers. Were it not for the Club's efforts, all those beautiful displays would be thrown out. Thanks to the vision of the Wheat Ridge Rotary Club several years ago, we would not have learned about this worthwhile effort to bring some Spring Sunshine to the residents of our area retirement/assisted living, and nursing care facilities. Please sign up to take part in this project. Volunteers will have an opportunity to gain free admission to the show after 2:00 PM on Sunday, the day the show closes. |

NORTHERN NICARAGUA LATRINE PROJECT
Apr. 19, 2016
Kevin Nichols, Golden Rotarian and Chair of their International Service Committee, will bring us up to date on the progress of their Northern Nicaragua Latrine Project. This sanitation project is one of several international projects our club is supporting through our International Committee and the seed money designated to it by our Littleton Rotary Foundation. Like in Golden, our club's international projects begin with the "we can do it" spirit that springs from just one passionate club member who has a vision and sees Rotary as a means to make it a reality.

EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO LAUGH
May 03, 2016
Smooth. Clever. Hilarious. These words are used often to describe Sam Adams, who gained national attention by winning at the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival. Sam's energetic, comically-insightful act is 100 percent profanity-free and filled with observations about his every-day encounters. He is a headline performer at comedy clubs and corporate events across the country. Sam also has shared stages with national-touring comedians and music recording artists -- an eclectic, genre-jumping list of nationally-known performers ranging from comedians Frank Caliendo, Craig Ferguson, Kevin Nealon, David Alan Grier and Keenen Ivory Wayans to music's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Heart and seven-time Grammy Award winner Al Jarreau. The Denver Business Journal once gave Sam a favorable review for "bringing down the house with a string of well-delivered lines that were notable for their lack of profanity, scatological or sexual references." Sam has appeared in several radio and TV commercials. He's an author, too, with a book titled 'If You Don't Believe Me: Lessons Learned from Listening To The Greats' which was released April 10, 2013. Off the record, Sam has more than 20 years of experience as a newspaper sports journalist. His work as a staff writer and columnist has appeared in The Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and The Charlotte Observer. In 2003 Sam received the Print Journalist of the Year award from his peers in Colorado. He also is credited with television appearances on ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS and NFL Network, and has covered championship events at all levels -- most notable four Super Bowls, two Olympics, two NCAA men's basketball Final Fours, one Stanley Cup Finals and one World Series. In the fall of 2014 Sam was added as a regular contributor on "Sports A to Z" and the "Broncos Game Day Live" show -- both airing on Denver's NBC affiliate 9NEWS. |

GET REAL: Career Challenges, Changes & Choices
May 17, 2016
Kim DeCoste is the founder of DeCoste & Associates, a career management and consulting firm based in Denver, Colorado. She has enjoyed a long career in recruiting and professional development, having served as director of career services at Colorado Technical University, as a technical recruiter in Los Angeles, and as a subject matter expert creating curricula for online career services at the college and university level. As a career management consultant and former corporate recruiter, Kim DeCoste has championed and advised women at all career levels. And while she has watched women make tremendous strides in the professional world, she also noticed they’re still asking the same questions: How can I find more balance in my life? Why must I shoulder more responsibilities at home when I work just as hard as my husband does? How can I not only make more money but also find fulfillment in my career? Is it really possible to “have it all”? At this evening's meeting, Kim will share the lessons she has learned about women’s unique professional challenges. Through years of coaching clients, listening to friends, and exploring her own professional growth, she’s garnered a common sense approach to goal setting that’s realistic, empathetic, and practical. |
