 At the 10-31-2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha, President Greg Elliott presented Mark Tibbetts with his Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin for his contributions to Rotary Foundation. 
 
The Oct. 31, 2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.
Guests included prospective member Derrick Allen and Kathy Tibbetts.
Prayer concerns Jerry Pittman's father Don and Jim Glaze, who has returned to work part-time.
President Greg Elliott presented Mark Tibbetts with his Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin for his contributions to Rotary Foundation. Congratulations, Mark.
President Greg reminded every one to keep selling tickets for the Gator, which will be given away at the Dec. 12 Rotary Christmas Party. Every Rotarians must sell a minimum of 5 tickets. There will be opportunities to go to community events where the Gator will be on display to sell your tickets. The top salesman wins a night on the town in Oklahoma City.
  Rotarian of the Day was Larry Brown who introduced Chickasha Economic Development Council director Christy Elkins as our guest speaker.
Christy just completed her first year as at the EDC and it has been a busy one.
New initiatives that have started include:
• Incentive program.
• Small business development and entrepreneurship pogrom.
• Industry and retail recruitment.
She said an extended stay hotel is being built on Country Club and that a developer is working on a new housing addition.
Christy said at least 16 oil-related businesses have headquarters in Chickasha. Continental Resource, announced last year increased activity in the South Centeral Oklahoma Oil Province (Scoop) and opened a Chickasha field office with about 10 employees, announced it is hiring 30 additional workers in the Chickasha office.
Harry Smith of NBC as in Chickasha recently to film interviews with Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm and Elkins about the oil economic impact on Chickasha, similar to a piece he did on Hamm's operations in South Dakota. Christy said she would let everyone know the air date of the NBC report.
Another new project the EDC is launching is the Chickasha Angel Investment program where a group of investors is assembled to invest in new businesses within the region.
