Rotary Meeting Zoom

Minutes from the July 19^th online Rotary Club of Wellesley Meeting

1. Vin and Bill will meet with the banquet lead at Wellesley Country Club (WCC) on Thursday July21 to work out the meeting schedule for the next of the year and discuss simplifying logistics including the feasibility of reduced menu or banquet model.
2. For the rest of the calendar year, we will run the second meeting of the month as a Zoom call. Depending on how Covid shakes out over the next few months, we can look at making the second meeting face-to-face at a site different from WCC and bring in food (take-out, etc.).

• We need to work out the speakers for meetings for the year. I will send out a separate communication on this topic.
• Tory is going to talk to Bob Worth at District to ensure that the Foundation goal has been entered correctly and to find out if we can apply for multiple grants
• There is discussion underway with Framingham Rotary on Food Insecurity projects for Mass Bay who have campuses in Wellesley, Framingham and Ashland. Bill has talked to Phil Reimann, Past President and Jack Colamaria, Current President. Both are enthusiastic about working together, including doing some active work to assemble food for distribution at Mass Bay which could be a good activity to use to recruit new people to learn about Rotary and consider joining our club.
  • Let Bill know if any of you are interested in joining him in the discussions on next steps with Framingham Rotary.
• We need to create the budget for the year. John, let me know if you have a provisional budget that we can as a starting point.
• Fund Raising:
  • We want to do Dinner on Us again. Need to start planning now. Any volunteer to take the lead?
  • There was discussion about Taste of Wellesley and do we consider doing it again next May. The group assembled, thought it was a good idea to run it again. Fred brought up a great point that we need someone in the club show to lead the effort. Looking for a volunteer!
• Bill is meeting with Joe Roberts next week, upon his request. More later after the meeting on next Tuesday.
• Vin brought up the Balanced Scholarship for Mass Bay. Need to move fast to help them on the coming semester.

• Donna also mentioned that we have monies ear marked for food insecurity that we need to distribute.
