All About Heat Pumps Rotary Meeting

The September 21st^rd Rotary Meeting will feature Chris Haringa of Abode Energy Management who will be sharing information on the Municipal Light Plant’s (“MLP”) “Clean Comfort” campaign to encourage installation of air source heat pumps for heating and cooling.  Rebates of up to $2,000 are available for eligible installations.

Ellen Korpi, Chair of Wellesley’s Light Board, will share how the Clean Comfort campaign fits into the MLP’s overall efforts to lower emissions in Wellesley. The Rotary meeting begins at 6:30 PM and Chris and Ellen should begin to speak around 7:00 PM.

While years ago, heat pumps were an expensive, inefficient way to provide heat, recent technological advances together with the low electricity rates in Wellesley have made them a cost effective and environmentally friendly way to heat and cool many local homes. 

Chris was engaged by the MLP to provide unbiased, personal, expert advice to people considering an air source heat pump installation.  Chris will explain this new technology, its benefits and the situations where it makes the most sense.

Chris has developed quality assurance processes to better support contractors and customers in successfully adopting heat pump solutions. Before Abode, Chris worked in residential energy efficiency programs in CT, RI, MA, and abroad in New Zealand and Australia.
