“Maybe it’s better if I don’t say anything.”

“What if I say the wrong thing?”

Such statements and questions are common when engaging in conversations around race. This discussion will challenge and encourage participants to examine how our individual thought patterns have been shaped, listen to different perspectives, and honestly practice a few What would you do if… moments. Information on local organizations, recommended readings, and other resources for your consideration will also be provided.

Lisa MacDonald is currently the Director of Equity Compliance at MassBay Community College. Since 2018 when she began there, her role serves as the institution’s Title IX Coordinator, Affirmative Action Officer, and ADA/504 Coordinator. Prior to transitioning to a community college, Lisa’s work was primarily in Student Affairs at small private institutions where she served as Director of Residence Life at Babson College (2006-2012) and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs/Director of Student Conduct (2012-2018). She resides in Natick, Mass., with her husband and daughter.
