Jon Haveman is the Executive Director of the National Economic Education Delegation (NEED). He is a noted California economist, where he has been practicing since 2001. He has a reputation for providing audiences with edible economic information that is readily useful in their work and private lives.

Autonomous, or self driving vehicles are coming.  Exactly when or in what form, nobody knows.  Their arrival, however, seems highly likely.  And with their arrival comes great change.  Particularly from an economic perspective, this technology has the potential to put large numbers of people out of work, change urban planning, and decisions about housing for years to come.  These changes will likely be dramatic and it behooves us to seriously consider what they may be and to plan accordingly.  This talk will discuss a potential timeline, spell out many of those changes, and discuss optimal policy responses.
