Special Newsletter abut Packaging Meals for 'Stop Hunger Now'
January 31, 2017

Needham Rotary teamed up with 80 students from Needham High's National Honor Society. We all joined with 'Stop Hunger Now' to package meals of 4 ingredients into plastic bags, which were then sealed and boxed. These meals will get shipped around the world wherever there is a need.

Stop Hunger now last year prepaid some 6 million meals, all of which were put to good use.

The National Honor Society raised $3500 for this event, and Needham Rotary contributed $1000. This was sufficient to pay for the supplies of the near 19000 meals which were packaged.

The excitement was infectious as groups of 4 filled each package with sufficient for 6 meals, then other sealed and boxed the resulting meal pouches.

This was the second time this school year that the National Honor Society students worked with Rotarians on a joint project: the first being clearing and filling the hillside near the Webster Street entrance to the cafeteria. Everyone was fully engaged, and the enthusiasm was palpable.

Congratulations to all who participated!!!
