Rob Dias and Joe Yee, rookies for the Boston Renegades, came to the Rotary meeting July 24 to thank the club for its grant Raising Rookies for the Renegades, New England's only Beep Ball team, competitive baseball for blind adults.

The Brookline Rotary club made a $3000 donation to the Association of Blind Citizens to help outfit rookie players and assist with their travel expenses during their first year.  There are five rookie players on the team this year who have added strength to the team.

The team has been around since 2000 and this year won the Beast of the East, the east coast championship, winning four out of five games in Philadelphia.  Next week they will be going to the World Series of Beep Ball in Rochester, Minnesota.

Four Brookline residents are members of the team, including Joyce Graff's son (who is not a rookie and does not benefit from the grant).

This Sunday, July 27, the Renegades will be doing a demonstration with the Lowell Spinners, a farm team for the Red Sox.
